Introduction

Jerusalem has gone through many wars and massacres waged and committed by the Zionist Occupation on many cities and areas. They’ve destroyed places and displaced their people. Yet, Jerusalem has been resilient and standing tall.

Wars and Massacres in 1948

Semiramis Hotel Massacre:
This massacre happened in
January 5th 1948. The terrorist Argon organization set off Semiramis hotel in Al-Qatmoun neighborhood. The hotel collapsed on the heads of is guests, who were all Arabs. 19 people were killed and 20 were injured.

As-Salam Building Massacre:
In 1948, an attack was carried out by the Stern Gang on As-Salam Building in Jerusalem. They stole a British military vehicle and filled it with explosives, to set off this building. 14 Arabs were killed and other 14 were injured.

Qalounya Massacre:
In 1948, a unit in the Palmach terrorist fighting force attached the village of Qalounya, near Jerusalem. They destroyed many houses and killed at least 14 people.

Jaffa Gate Massacre:
In 1948, one member of the Argon terrorist gang threw a bomb on Jaffa Gate, which was also called Al-Khalil Gate, in the Old Town. 18 Arab citizens were killed and 41 others were injured.

Deir Yassin Massacre:
Deir Yassin was one of the villages in Jerusalem. In 1948, it was destroyed by the two terrorist Zionist gangs, the Argon and the Stern. They killed its people and took it over. The number of casualties reached 245 victims.

1948 War:
Palestine was under the British Mandate. In 1948, the British government pulled out of Palestine, and the Jewish Council in Tel Aviv declared he establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine. As a result, a war broke out between the Zionist forces and the Arab Armies. The war ended in the defeat of the Arab armies and the Jewish occupation of Palestine, including Wes Jerusalem

 

Uprisings in Bayt Al-Maqdis

The Maccabees Revolution:
In 165 B.C, the Jew followers of Juda Maccabee rebelled. He led the group of Jews who held on their religion despite the oppression of Greeks. When the oppression and hazing went far, a revolution broke out in Jerusalem, which led to weakening the rule of Greeks there.

Bar Kokhba Revolt:
In 132, the leader Bar Kokhba gathered Jews and rebelled against the Roman reign in Palestine. He took shelter in one of the castles he took over. After 3 years, the Roman emperor Aelia Hadvian overthrew the revolution, and even wiped the trace of every Jew from the land. This is why the castle is now called “Kherbet Al-Yahood” (the ruins of Jews).

Al-Buraq Uprising:
while the British Mandate was providing Jews with protection, they dared to gather at Al-Buraq Wall (which they call the Wailing Wall); since they considered it one of their holy sites. A great revolution broke out
in August the 15th 1929. A lot of Jews were killed and injured. Yet, it ended with the suppression and opression of the rebellious Arabs by the English forces.
